So if the bible God doesn't ask for works of salvation does that mean all you have to do is just beleive and you get salvation??
That's right! And God even gives the Gift of faith.

i think most would agree that real true love has to be impartial,,no favoritism,,completely fair,,equal concern,, reguardless of race,,nationality,,or even species.. yet when we read the bible what do we find?
we find god hating no only singled out persons, but entire nationalities.
he even tell his people to sacrifice innocent animals for sins,,i don't know about you but i see a big discrepancy here, if god is supposed to be impartial.

Deputy Dog, i thought the topic was the "god of the JW's"... or the old school Christian god.
There is a big difference between the JW god and the God of the Bible. The God of the bible doesn't ask for works for salvation. D Dog

you love your own child unconditionally
You may love your children unconditionaly, but that doesn't mean you love them the same way.

i would. we are imperfect, yet capable of unconditional love. the god of the Jehovah's Witnesses isn't, and he's a billion times greater than us, supposedly.
God does love his children unconditionaly. He sent Jesus to die when all hated him, and he died for me anyway with all my sin.
The question is, who are his children?
But then again, I don't believe in the god of the JWs.

Here we go again frankie. Do you have to love someone elses children as much as your own, to say you truly love children? Do you love your wife as much as all other women, or the same as your mother? Does anyone truly love anyone? Sorry, I would say I truly love many people, I just don't love them all the same way. I would not expect God to be any different. I'm just glad He loves me enough for Jesus to die for me.
I don't know about you but I see a big discrepancy here, if God is supposed to be impartial.
Who said God is supposed to be impartial? The watchtower? Certainly not the Bible!
I guess you're a little "jealous" of how God loves some more than others? This is interesting frankie, you seem to be struggling with some of the same issues Martin Luther did. Keep studying!

i'm talking about the bible god jehovah need to be worshipped,,and his utter hatred towards other gods the people worshipped.
i mean after all he has his people put to death if the worship any one else.
he even admits he is a very jealeous god,,so what are your opinions?
frankie
I totally agree that the "God of the universe" can do what ever he wants. But we are talking about the tribal God of the Isrealites.
I don't think you know that God well enough to judge him. If you're asking about the JW God that is something altogether different.
You see that's a problem that you have. Because you can't get yourself to make a judgement about this God,, or aleast entertain the idea that he act harshly and unloving at times. So automatically you alsways give a favorable judgement. You have in effect closed your mind when it come to God.
I'm not so arrogant as to think I could run the universe, so when God does something I don't like or understand, I don't think I have a vantage point from which to judge. It is you who has the closed mind, if you think that you have enough facts to make such a judgment. You seem to think God can only be God if he gets your approval.
Are you too afraid to admit he is unloving even privately in your own mind. Are you afraid that if you even think the idea he will find out and you won't get everlasting life.
That is tipical witness thinking, not mine. I was given everlasting life long before I repented of that kind of thinking. You see frankie, I don't believe I deserve everlasting life, I don't deserve life at all, let alone any of life's blessings, so I don't worry about his displeasure with my sin. I don't have a problem with Jobs words:
Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
I think the problem here with some on this forum, is that the org still controls your mind to the point of thinking that if the org is wrong then the bible can't be true. You leave the org and you never give the bible a 2nd look. The Watchtower only lets you see God as "the lion of judah" never "the suffering servent" of Isaiah 53 revealed as God in the New Testament as Christ. The Watchtower never sees Christ as God so the average witness never gets a complete look at God.
frankie it is you that has a closed mind, you are fighting a god that never existed until the JWs came along and then you imposed him on the rest of Christianity. Your loss.

I think that the God of the universe has every right and freedom to be what ever he wants. I find it amazing that anyone could think that they have a perspective from which to judge God

A better question "Does frankie have an over active ego problem????" I'm talking about why frankie is so upset by people who worship a God who is bigger than themselves.

my wife has been a jw for about 10 years (we have been married 15 years).
over the years i have tried various strategies to deal with this, which i won't go into here...except that i have agreed to "read the bible" with my wife...and i get to pick the translation.. what translation would be best recommended to help highlight the errors of the nwt and jw thinking in general?
i have seen here that today's english version has been recommended...anything else?

the awesome power of god
if you are willing to put faith in jah, the only true god, then i am willing to share my experiences with you.
jehovah is able to humble any man, no matter how strong or powerful he thinks he is..........in a microsecond.

Tell us something about the bible you know First hand! ...Oh that's right, you can't understand the bible without an organization to tell us... (I mean) you what it says.
